ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN PEMAHAMAN KOSAKATA MATEMATIKA MATERI ARITMATIKA SOSIAL PADA SISWA KELAS VII DI MTs SWASTA SHOLIHIN TANJUNG MORAWA

Abstract

As the "Queen of Science", mathematics lessons have the aim of explaining mathematical ideas and statements, solving problems which include the ability to understand problems, designing mathematical models, completing models and interpreting the solutions obtained, communicating ideas with symbols, tables, diagrams, or other media to clarify the situation. Likewise with understanding mathematical vocabulary, understanding mathematical vocabulary is an important achievement and cannot be ignored in mathematics lessons. The purpose of this research is to determine and analyze the level of ability to understand vocabulary in arithmetic social mathematics material for class VII students at MTs Private Sholihin Tanjung Morawa. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method, with a phenomenological approach. Data collection uses research instruments in the form of non-test instruments consisting of interviews and documentation. Interviews were conducted with research subjects at the same time as they were given a test of the ability to understand mathematical vocabulary adapted to the material being studied, while documentation took the form of photos, notes and documents related to the research. The data was then analyzed using non-statistical data analysis. Data is reduced by sorting or focusing the data, simplifying the raw data into a form that is easier to manage. Interviews with research subjects are compiled into transcripts of interview results and simplified into good and neat language structure. The research results show that students have high, medium and low comprehension abilities and students can achieve research indicators in the form of interpreting, summerizing, inferring and explaining
